How I Became an Entrepreneur at Ten Years Old
BTW: Sorry if that title sounds like I’m flexing, I’m not.
When I was 10 years old I started rishiskitchen.com, my first ever company. It is a food blog and subscription service as well as online shop about food and cookies especially.
Its Not That Hard
Creating a website/business is not that hard as a child, you just have to have the will to not be playing video games and binge-watching Netflix all day, you have to donate some of your time to starting your business. I’m not telling you to get up at 3:00 am in the morning to clean 10 cars before 8:30 am, to make £50 pounds and do the same after school. You don’t have to take every single second of your time to become a successful entrepreneur under 18 years old.
Best Business Models
It can be hard to have a business as a kid since you don't really have the time to work fulltime unless you don’t sleep at all, which is impossible to do for over 11 days, so here are some of the best business models for kids.
Subscription Service: I would say this is probably the best business model for kids to do because you don’t have to work every day, especially on a quarterly subscription service. In a subscription service you can sell anything you want, from coffee beans to phone cases. A subscription service is also a very stable income as you usually have a guaranteed income every month.
Blog + Patreon: Creating a blog is a very fun and easy way to share your talents to the rest of the world, but sadly a blog on its own won’t make you much money at all, even with Google AdSense. That's where Patreon comes in. Patreon is a membership based platform for creators. You sign up and create a payed membership plan that your fans can sign up too and earn you money.
First of All,
I needed an idea, that can be the problem with entrepreneurship, whether your starting out or you need something new to keep your business running smoothly, it’s hard yet possible. Grab a notebook or piece of paper and start writing idea after idea, and once your all out put it away for a little bit, play some sport, go to school, whatever you do normally, go do that. Then come back to it and see what pops. That's what you should use.
But now its time for the execution…
I didn’t spend 86 hours coding my website when I started Rishi’s Kitchen, in fact, I created it in under ten minutes and it wasn’t that hard either. I used Wix, a website builder, to create a professional website in minutes, and it didn’t cost any money, none at all.
And for creating the product, well if you have chosen something that you can do and others will enjoy, then that should be easy!
