The Secrets of Amazon

Amazon is the second-largest private employer in the states, but how does this big-dollar, big-tech business treat its thousands of employees, well, let’s find out in this story…

Amazon has been accused of many things over the years, and the closest to home probably come from the employees themselves. However, the biggest accusation for me came from a few amazon employees when they went on a protest in 2019. Their sprawled up sign read:

We are humans, not robots!

Any hands-on job can be tedious, let alone being in a humongous and stinky warehouse all day doing low paid jobs that require super-high levels of both mental and physical strain.

For instance, in many Amazon Fulfilment Centres, the new and rapidly moving technology can tell your warehouses’ manager when you are ‘off-task. In some warehouses, you are only allowed 18 mins of ‘off task time’ per shift, which could be from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

But of course, Amazon isn’t the only billion-dollar business with high strain, low pay jobs at its core, just look at Walmart or Uber. But that’s all for today, goodbye.
